STRUCTURAL GLASS

STRUCTURAL GLASS

The structural glass design services within SDK are provided by its subsidiary company CPA Structural Glass since its merger with Cloutier Powney and Associates in May 2004. The company’s main purpose is to offer expertise in the design of new glass systems, the development of mullion-free structural glass, the verification of glazing designs and the use of glass as a load bearing element. The company also reviews plans and specifications before tender, does appraisals, feasibility studies and budgetary assessments. Our services are useful to architects, designers, real estate owners, manufacturers and glass sub-contractors in Canada and the United States.

Since the company was founded in the year 2000, CPA has designed and built numerous innovative projects using the point fixing method for glass. These systems consist of glass panels that are anchored at the corners and supported by special attachments on light metallic frames. These frames can be composed of steel, aluminum or glass members, with or without steel cables, and are specially designed for each project. The glass can be insulated, laminated, colored, tempered or have almost all options which are available for conventional glass systems. The systems can be designed for interior or exterior use.

We work with selected partners, such as Prelco (hyperlien www.Prelco.ca) for the fabrication of glass products as well as Sadev (hyperlien www.sadev.com) for the provision of specialized hardware. CPA’s senior structural engineers Benoit Cloutier and Albert Eskenazi take care of the mandates given the firm, and, when needed, combine their experience and expertise in the glass field to achieve the most complex designs.
